ENROLMENTS

Grade 1 Admissions

Grade 1 admissions may only be done online via the Department of Education’s admissions system. This is done through the GDE registration portal. You may access the system on this link: www.gdeadmissions.gov.za

Each year, the GDE announces the date of the opening of registrations.  Only then will you be able to log in and register your child for Grade 1.

You will need to create a profile on the GDE site and then follow the step-by-step procedure to register your child for admission to a primary school.  Please ensure that the cell number you select is correct as the online system will communicate instructions and the progress of your application by SMS to this number.

Admissions Criteria

  1. Learners who reside with at least one of their parents in the feeder zone of the school
  2. The learner has a sibling already attending the school (excluding Grade 7)
  3. One of the parent’s places of employment is within the feeder zone of the school
  4. The learner’s place of residence is within 30 km radius of the school
  5. The learner’s place of residence is beyond 30 km radius of the school

It is important to note that the first 2 criteria take preference.  Should there still be space available, the last 3 criteria will be taken into consideration.  These learners will be placed on Waitlist B.

To improve your chances for placement into a school, it is highly recommended that you apply to more than one school in the area.

It is recommended that you prepare the following documentation that you will need to upload to the Department website or drop off at the school once you have registered your child online:

ALL DOCUMENTS MUST BE CERTIFIED

  • An unabridged birth certificate of the child (shows both biological mother and father details)
  • Immunisation card / Clinic Card – vaccination history only, not growth chart. (6-year-old vaccinations must be up to date prior to admission into Grade 1).
  • Proof of residency
    • If a homeowner, then your most recent municipal (Water & Lights) account – not older than 3 months;
    • If a tenant, a certified copy of your lease agreement, accounts in your name posted to this address, as well as the Landlord’s Water and Lights account and a Rental Payment slip which acknowledges payment of rent – not older than 3 months.
      • Note: Affidavits are not accepted as proof of residence, nor is the Confirmation of Address form, as issued by the Ekurhuleni Municipal offices.
  • Both parents Identity Documents or Passports.
  • The Court Order in the case of a legally appointed guardian / foster parent.
  • For immigrants / refugees, the work permit as well as study permit for the learner, valid at least until mid-2027.

The District Director will sign off the Waiting List for the schools towards the end of the year, and Parents will be advised of placement at a school via SMS. Any problems experienced in registration may be forwarded to the Department of Education Call Centre on 0800 000 789.

Grade 2-7

Please bear in mind that Intergrade placement is dependent on the availability of space in each grade. School capacity remains a challenge in Gauteng, and a factor that applicants must be aware of. We recommend that you do not remove your child from a school until you get confirmation of space for them in a new school.

Applications for 2027 open from Monday, 27 July 2026 – Friday 18 September 2026

Early applications will not be accepted.

Please collect the application forms from the school or email Mrs de Witt requesting a copy of the form – enrolments@fpschool.co.za. All applications will be placed on a waiting list as placement is dependent on space available within the respective grade. Should the School be in a position to assist with placement, communication will follow towards the end of term 4 when we have a more accurate view of enrolment figures for 2027 per grade.

Incomplete applications will not be processed.

Applicants are placed on the following waiting list

The school will inform parents in writing, whether the learners’ application was successful or not.

The 2026 budget was approved at the School’s AGM in November 2025. Farrarmere Primary school is a fee paying School

School Fees for 2026 are R28 000.00 per learner per annum.

FARRARMERE PRIMARY IS A QUINTILE 5 SCHOOL

The South African Government implements a funding model which lists 5 categories of Schools, called Quintiles. These Quintiles determine how much government funding each School receives. The Schools in the lower Quintiles (1 to 3) are declared no-fee Schools, and receive majority of Government funding. The Schools in the upper Quintiles (4 to 5) receive less Government funding. These funds cannot cover School expenses. Farrarmere Primary is a Quintile 5 School and receives only R293.30 per annum per learner. Therefore, Farrarmere Primary is a fee paying School in terms of the South African Schools Act (SASA 84 of 1996).

FARRARMERE PRIMARY IS A FEE PAYING SCHOOL

The 2026 School fees are determined in accordance with Section 39 of the South African Schools Act, 1996. In terms of Section 39 of the South African Schools Act, parents are liable to pay these fees. In terms of Section 40 of the South African Schools Act, we may enforce this payment by taking legal action, including blacklisting on the National Credit Bureau. School fees are recognized as a statutory obligation where both biological, adoptive or legal guardian parents are responsible for the payment of school fees, regardless of their marital status. The payment of School fees at Farrarmere Primary is, therefore, compulsory.

Any school fee queries, please contact Mrs Williams in the accounts office: Debtors@fpschool.co.za
